Encouragement in the Storm

Life is tough, no matter who we are, where we are, there are always going to be storms. I have learned to be truly thankful for the storms because it is after them that I can see what fruit God has produced in me through them. This does not mean the storms are any easier or any less difficult while in them. During my devotional tonight I read:

 Save your best striving for seeking My face. To find Me and hear My voice, you must seek Me above all else. Anything that you desire more then me becomes an idol. (Jesus Calling, March 8).

    It is so hard not to allow something to become such a desire of our heart that we place it on a pedestal higher than we at times place Christ. We have all been there: desiring a spot on a team, a certain job, being in love, being married, having a child, buying a home....this list goes on and our desires are real. It is always important to seek Him through these times because we always want our desires to be in line with His ultimate plan for us. Oh those words are so much easier to write than to truly walk with open arms and trust. I love when God knows you need strength and encouragement through storms. I received a perfect timing sweet letter and gift from this sweet girl today....

Jaimee, her blog here. She has been a friend that has seen many storms with me. She always knows how to encourage and support through them. Here are a few things I have read over the last several days from other friends face books, blogs, and instagram...amazing how social media allows us to even share more and what a time to use it for His will.

We need to remember that while we are waiting, God is working. He sees the entire picture and is active behind the scenes, arranging everything according to His will. But perhaps His most important work is the deepening of our relationship with Him as we learn to love and trust Him in the wait. (source)

if we realize that we are accepted in christ, only then will suffering humble and strengthen us rather than embitter and weaken us. As others have said, Jesus suffered not that we might not suffer but that when we suffer we could become like him (Tim Keller's Galatian's study)

Verses from Jaimee
Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever-Hebrews 13:8
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer-Romans 12:12

 I waited patiently for the LORD;
   he turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
   out of the mud and mire;
he set my feet on a rock
   and gave me a firm place to stand.
 He put a new song in my mouth,
   a hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the LORD
   and put their trust in him
Psalm 40:1-3

I pray that if my desires are not your will and in line with yours that you slowly
 change the desires of my heart!
Thank you Lord for knowing what is best.
